2008 Pitchfork Readers Poll

Fleet Foxes

Here's another reason to hate/love Pitchfork. Or at least their readers.

The 2008 edition of their annual music readers poll is out: Pitchfork 2008 Readers Poll.

I'm really glad to see the Fleet Foxes get some recognition. The Stranger's Line Out has a nice summary here.

It's also great to see the Dodos get some love on the Best New(ish) Act, Song of the Year and Best Album lists.

Coincidentally, the Andy Aupperlee Explosion 5000 blogged about these two bands:
The Dodos
Fleet Foxes

I bet if we pool our experiences, The Blog Mule attended a show for almost every act on these lists.

I saw
  • Girl Talk
  • Vampire Weekend
  • The Dodos (twice)
  • Fleet Foxes (twice)
  • MGMT (2007)
  • My Morning Jacket
What about yall? Thoughts?

Tell me why "Best Of ____" lists are stupid/awesome.

Unfortunately, it does not look like Desecrate. or Chrysalis. made Pitchfork's list. Those were the last two shows I saw.

Best of "anything you can give people for Christmas" list are awesome because I know that my gifts are in touch with what matters to my peers. Plus it gives you something to say immediately after the person opens said CD, book/DVD/burned copy of Feed the Animals with original artwork by Aaron Aupperlee.

giftee: "Fleet Foxes...thanks."
Aaron: "Yeah, they were all over a BlogMule post about a Pitchfork post about the best albums and songs and stuff."

or

giftee: "Starfucker? thanks."
Aaron: "Yeah. Starfucker."

conclusion. always gift with Starfucker.
